In just a few weeks it’s time for the Nordic OpenStack and open source community to gather in Stockholm. This will be the third year in a row and just like last year in Copenhagen we have a 2-day event packed with C-level key notes, open track speakers, a vibrant market place of sponsors and a full day dedicated to training sessions.
Our content committee has put a lot of effort to set the perfect 2-day agenda that spans across as many levels as possible to satisfy the growing open source community in the Nordics. The Main event Keynotes and track speakers are all confirmed and they are now working on getting the last pieces of the Academy Day ready.
Spotlight on Open Source
We spoke to two of our Keynote speakers, Christopher Price – President at Ericsson Software Technology and Johan Christenson – CEO at City Network to get a feeling for what they have in store for us at the Main Event. We asked them to give their thoughts on this years OSDN and elaborate what they are planning to talk about during their presentation. Johan and Christopher are both members of the OpenStack Board of Directors.
Johan and Christopher, first what is your expectations for this year’s OSDN?
Christopher: I am hoping to see members of the OpenStack and general open source community sharing experiences and knowledge in the various technologies they work with. I’d like to see collaboration and coordination of activity toward target open source technologies, but in general hope to see an increased awareness and inclination toward leveraging and contributing to open source.
Johan: As the event is more mature I hope to meet up with many colleagues from before and get an update on where they all are in their digital transformation. I am also looking forward to hearing a broader message around open infrastructure as OpenStack and the world embraces everything from VMs to Containers to Serverless.
So, we are all exited to hear what you planning to reveal at OSDN during your key note session?
Christopher: We will reveal the activities and community growing around Nordix Foundation. Nordix Foundation is a new Foundation focusing on the Nordics and its use of and innovation around open source. Nordix targets building both; regional community around open source technologies, and trust in our ability to leverage and explore these technologies in our businesses.
Johan: There higher purpose of Nordix Foundation is to enable more Nordic enterprises to use and innovate in and around open source. We will do this in two sections where one is all about best practice, use cases and education and the other is about real-world labs. Users getting together and working on cases such as running containers over multiple cloud providers or data lakes in a compliant fashion – all using open source. We really hope to have our lab in place by OSDN and maybe be launching some developmental projects.
During our key note we will also focus on open source and what it means for the world. We find it tremendously important that there is choice and open source and open infrastructure provides that foundation to stand on.
We are all looking forward to hearing more from both Johan and Christopher during the Keynote sessions of the Main Avent along with all the rest of our fantastic speakers.
